Facelift Minneapolis - St. Paul

As people age, the effect of gravity, sun exposure, and stress begins to show in their faces. The jaw line begins to show laxity and jowls may begin to form. The nasolabial fold, the crease extending between the nostril and the corner of the mouth, begins to deepen. Folds and fat deposits appear on the neck. A facelift restores a smoother, more pleasing contour to the face and neck. It can help you look as good as you feel and perhaps feel younger than you are.

A face lift cannot stop the aging process. What a facelift does best, is to simply set back the clock. A facelift can improve the deep cheek folds, jowls and loose, sagging skin around the neck that comes with age. It can improve the most visible signs of aging by removing excess fat, and tightening the skin and muscles of your face and neck. A facelift can be done alone or in conjunction with a brow lift or eyelid surgery.

A natural look is the goal for a facelift. My facelift patients look “refreshed” and younger, but still look quite themselves without the “pulled” artificial look.

This 58-year-old woman was bothered by sagging skin in her neck. She is an ideal candidate for facelift surgery because her skin still has good elasticity and she has well-defined bone structure in her cheeks and jaw line.Following her facelift, she is very pleased with her results. She looks natural, younger, and fresher. Her recovery took about two weeks. She attended the wedding of a close friend one month following surgery.

Am I a good candidate for Facelift?

The best candidate for a facelift is a man or woman whose face and neck have begun to sag but whose skin still has some elasticity and who have good bone structure to their faces. Most patients are in their 40s to 60s but a facelift can be done successfully in people in their 70s as well.

Any one or combination of the following conditions may indicate you are a good candidate for a facelift:

  • You have developed jowls or lost definition of your jaw line with age.
  • Your nasolabial folds have become more prominent; this is the line or fold running from the corner of your nose to the corner of your mouth.
  • You have deep wrinkles in the cheeks and sagging of the “highlight areas of your cheekbones.
  • You have loose skin, wrinkles, vertical cords, or excess fatty tissue in your neck.

Neck Lift

In their 30′s and 40′s, most people experience some loss of definition in the jaw line and neck. Fat deposits under the chin can lead to a bulky look often referred to as a “double chin”.A neck lift procedure can tighten the muscles of the neck and remove excess fat, restoring a more youthful look. For women in there 30′s to early 50′s this procedure can postpone the need for a facelift. Patient age and their skin elasticity are the key factors determining whether this procedure is suitable for a given patient. Recovery is more rapid than that of a facelift and incisions are small and inconspicuous.
