Male Breast Reduction Minneapolis - St. Paul

Gynecomastia reduction has become the most common operation I perform in male patients. I was initially trained in the operative technique for gynecomastia reduction in Los Angeles. Southern California is a beach culture, the results delivered by the surgeon need to be very good. Over the 12 years since I returned from LA, gynecomastia reduction has become my number one operation in males followed by liposuction. Men now realize they no longer have to live with this condition. The photos in the photo gallery show a series of four gynecomastia reduction patients. The operation becomes progressively more difficult due to increased amount of gynecomastia and an increase in age of the patients treated. A 20 or 30 year old man has more elasticity to his skin as compared to a 45 year old man whose skin is less elastic. You will see that my results compare very favorably with those delivered across the nation.

Gynecomastia or male breast enlargement is a condition that affects a significant number of men. The majority of cases of gynecomastia begin during adolescence, during which up to two thirds of young men experience some breast development. Experience shows that if breast enlargement persists beyond two years, it is unlikely to resolve on its own. Some patients may be sufficiently bothered by their chest contour to seek remedy during their teen years. Many other men present to the plastic surgeon during their twenties, thirties or even forties.

Gynecomastia surgery is performed on an outpatient basis. Most patients report that the surgery produces only a modest discomfort. An elastic vest-like garment is worn for the first several weeks following surgery. Lower body exercise can resume in two weeks with return to upper body workouts a month after surgery. The improved chest contour is apparent by two to three weeks, as swelling subsides. Results continue to improve for 3 to 4 months following surgery as the skin continues to tighten.

Gynecomastia Reduction With Liposuction of Abdoen and Flanks

The patient is an 18-year-old young man and a captain of his swimming team. He finds that his gynecomastia is objectionable both at the swimming pool as well as in the summer when he has his shirt off at the beach. He was initially seen by a surgeon who recommended an Omega-type gynecomastia reduction. In this type of reduction, lateral incisions are made at the 3 o’clock and 9 o’clock position on the areola outwards into the normal appearing chest skin for a distance of at least one inch. While this operation affords the surgeon ease of access, it also yields a cosmetically unacceptable result. In all of the results shown, you will see that I am able to hide the incision at the natural pigmentary change between the areola and the chest skin. This young man brought his mother to the second consult where she expressed her desire to treat his right side only. As you can clearly see, the patient has a small bud of breast tissue beneath the left nipple as well. To treat both sides and obtain symmetry was my goal. The postoperative result clearly shows that he is well tanned and enjoying his new physique at the beach in the summer.
This patient is a 31 year old professional man who is bothered by both gynecomastia and fat accumulation of his abdomen and waist. He works out regularly and has found these areas resistant to his diet and exercise routine. Through a combination of gynecomastia reduction and liposuction of his chest, abdomen, and waistline totaling 4.5 liters of fat removal, he has lost 8 inches off his waist and 4 inches off his hips. He continues to work out regularly and can now see the results of his hard work.
