Like all kinds of surgeries, plastic surgery also has its own set of risks and complications. Hence, some clients may be hesitant at the thought of combining plastic surgeries. However, a recent study by researchers at the University of Verona revealed that combining plastic surgeries could actually enhance results. The Results of the Study

The aforementioned study followed 90 plastic surgery patients who chose to combine rhinoplasty and chin augmentation. The researchers followed their progress between 2002 and 2004 which was followed 3 years later.

The study came up with the following conclusion:

“Over three years of follow-up, the researchers found that almost half (45.6 percent) of those who had their chin reduced had no subsequent changes in the new chin. For those who had chin extensions, 52 percent had a “stable” profile three years later, meaning no more than a millimeter of change, the researchers noted.”

The researchers of the study further pointed out that since the structure of the nose, chin and neck are related to each other, combining surgeries actually make sense to enhance and produce long-lasting results.

Why Combine Plastic Surgeries

Here at our Minneapolis plastic surgery practice, we recommend combining plastic surgeries after a thorough assessment and evaluation by Dr. Hoffman. Here are just some of the reasons why combining plastic surgeries will actually work to your advantage:

1. Combining plastic surgeries will save you time and effort in doctor visits, recovery and follow-up care.

2. One procedure may not give you your desired aesthetic results. One good example is combining Botox with Restylane. The former could improve the appearance of forehead wrinkles while the latter is actually more effective in reducing deep wrinkles and lines in the nasolabial area. Therefore, combining procedures may be necessary to get the results you want.

3. You get to save on costs such as surgeon’s fee and anesthesia expenses.

While there are many advantages in having multiple cosmetic procedures at once, special considerations should be given to several aspects of the surgery such as the type of anesthesia that will be used, likelihood of risks and complications, and recovery time.
